India and Education

India being a vast country has different types of people living in it. It is the second most populated country after China. And to make our country emerge as an exemplary one education is the key for it. Often the people don’t understand the importance of education or face economic problems and which keep many citizen of our country deprived of their basic right which is education.

Education in India is no more an option but a basic necessity to cop up with highly growing competitive technological world (exception: small towns and villages where government is still trying to make people understand the importance of education). But still illiteracy is a burning issue in our country which is preventing the development in all sectors simultaneously. When an educated section of India is getting the benefits of being a citizen of this State, the other part who are the marginalised community, are deprived of the same due to lack of knowledge and exploitation by others.

There are two sectors for providing education to children and they are the private sector and public sector. The schools which are set up by the public sectors are known as government schools which are run and administrated by the government and the schools which are under the private sector are known as private schools which are run by an individual or a group of individuals.

But still India continues to face stern challenges. Even though the government and the private sector is investing a lot in the education sector, 25% of its population is still illiterate, only 15% of the population reaches high schools  and just 7% are graduates. These statistics are really poor compared to the statistics of other developing nations whether it is primary or higher education.
Education is the most appropriate method for development in a larger perspective. Since it carves a generation with knowledge and understanding about their surroundings, education will be a torch light for the massive growth of a nation. It is the collective responsibility of the government and the citizen to provide basic and better education to each children of our nation.  Especially for an over populated country like India, it is highly required to be qualified to compete and succeed for a brighter living. And for that purpose the urban and rural India should take up measures which can improvise the existing conditions and provide healthy learning atmosphere for children to nurture.

The Global Link Experience......

For the fourth consecutive year, Oakridgers had an opportunity to visit the U Prep School at Seattle as part of the Global Link Experience. Five students from Grade X accompanied by Ms. Rubina Nikhath (faculty advisor) were a part of this program.

The two week program was a good learning experience for the students. Their stay with host families in Seattle provided them with a good opportunity to understand and experience a different culture. Such experiences truly help children to evolve as global citizens and help them develop a better perspective of the world around them.

Why is Education the Key to Success?

Every one of us is a bundle of unique gifts and talents. Our relative success in life depends on how much
we believe in ourselves, trust our own private genius, nurture it and let it grow freely. What education
does is that it provides us with the opportunity to unravel and realize our inborn talents, while providing
us with the skills of thinking and solving problems on our own. Both education and success are relative
concepts in the sense that there is a wide difference of opinion regarding what is real education and
what is real success.

High Educational Qualifications Provide Better Job Opportunities

Specialized knowledge gained through higher education opens opportunities in the form of well paying
jobs, with a challenging work profile. While higher education may not guarantee success, it certainly
puts you in a position to work with the best in the field and gain valuable experience, which helps you in
the long term pursuit of professional success. Players in education sector specify more on this stage for
better tomorrow.

Provides the Requisite Skill Set to Succeed
Education that enables individuals to succeed is not just the formal kind. The direct education that one
gains through hands-on experience and working with the masters in a field, which goes beyond purely
bookish knowledge, prepares you for success. The discipline, perseverance and ability to apply oneself
pave the path to success.

Provides Access to the Vast Store of Human Knowledge

Just being able to read and write, provides you access to the vast store of human knowledge in the form
of books, which is the combined wisdom of ages. Distilling knowledge to gain wisdom is the ultimate
aim of education. Great minds like Newton have acknowledged the contributions of their predecessors
which contributed to their success.

Education through Experience Provides the Real Edge

A college degree or any kind of formal education can provide you with the knowledge required to
succeed in your field. It does not ensure success unless you learn to apply what you learned and apply
it effectively to find innovative solutions. Education provides you with the means, but the application
required to succeed must come from within you.

Ultimately Success Is All About Self Belief

No institution can provide better education than life itself. Besides conventional education, the lessons
we learn through our day-to-day life, our ability to adapt and self introspect, adoption of a strong value
system and most importantly, self belief are the keys to success. The importance of education lies in its
ability to forge a man of character.

The real key to success is self belief, which can unlock your inner potential. Education which puts you
on the path of self discovery, leading to self belief, adds meaning to your life and provides you with the
means to achieve lasting success in life.

Why Is School Important

Knowledge is power

School is the basic foundation of knowledge being imparted to a child. It gives a chance to children to acquire knowledge on various fields of education, such as people, literature, history, mathematics, politics, and other numerous subjects. By obtaining knowledge, a person is in a better position to help other people.

A ladder to college

Unless you complete your school education, a student cannot get himself/herself enrolled into a college. College is highly significant to succeed and achieve his/her dreams. With higher education, one can get a good job and lead a better life. Without academic career, one will not be able to make a living for oneself.

Allows it to socialize

Attending school gives you a chance to meet new children of one’s age. While some remain only classmates, some get close only to become good friends for many years or even lifetime. Conversely, if one stays at home all day long, one will probably not be able to meet many such people of one’s age. Meeting new people and socializing also broadens one’s parameters of knowledge. Thus, if one wants to lead a good social life, it is best to attend school.

Keeps you engrossed

Unless one is much occupied with various tasks, staying without work during the day can be really boring and tiresome.  Attending school not only will it keep you active, it will also help you learn other useful skills. Though one might enjoy staying unoccupied for the first few days or a month, after some time, it will get boring and kill you. Thus, attend school to be a happy, successful person.

Overall development

School does not mean just learning the events given in a history chapter or solving tough mathematical problems or reciting poems and sonnets. School is the first stepping stone in the life of a child, wherein he/she learns a lot more than just rote learning. Developing hobbies, refining them, learning basic etiquettes, getting skilled at multi tasking, developing social skills are some of the many things that a school equips a child with.
Especially if we look at the current trend in our country, international schools are coming up with lot more opportunity for children where the definition of education is getting changed into another level. The internal and external development of a student is being ensured by such international schools in India to grow and nurture.
