Out-dated Traditional Learning

Why is that we always stereotype, traditional to be out-dated and obsolete part of our lives, this is quite a thought provoking question, because what we think today, is transferred to our preceding generations. Traditional ways of learning have still not lost its charm, even after technology taking over everything in the world, there are children who love the smell of new hardbound text books, they still love to cover their books with brown paper and feel very happy in class to read up a lesson in the text book in class.

Textbook give the feel of learning something to every child, the process of learning is somewhat incomplete without referring to the school text books. Maths is subject, where old tricks of calculation makes the work easier, one may have been equipped with the latest digital calculator, but in the end when the calculator repeats the error command for a calculation, even the most technology savvy person has no option but to perform the entire calculation manually on paper to cross check his or her error.

India is the country, where great and learned men came up with several educational theories and formulas and that also without the help of technology. I’m not against the use of technology, but I want to point out the fact that if the simplest things could be done in the simplest ways then why is it that we wish to complicate it further by using gadgets that don’t need the required attention for that work.

For instance, according to the recent researches conducted, Indian students are known to perform brilliantly compared to students abroad. It is not because they are using the most latest technologies, or they are using the latest Ipad’s or IPhone’s, it is simply because they are using their brains. Even after being the most powerful country and nuclear equipped in the world, why are most of the Indians getting job offers from companies in America and why are American kids not faring well enough grades in their schools.
India may have once been the land of snake charmers and elephant riders, but India was never the land of fools, we may use the most traditional forms of teaching and learning in schools but we are proud that are students are the one’s placed in the top most institutions around the world and they are looked forward to as an example of perfect students by other teachers, parents and even the President of America.

World Leaders of Education

The way to civic life and greater knowledge comes from receiving adequate education. Education in India is becoming costlier day by day, but parents in India consider it there lifelong duty to pay for their child’s education and other study related expenses. And we the students hold it as our privilege to receive lifelong funding from our parents in terms of education.

The education sector in India has innumerable courses and subjects to offer that no student would feel insignificant compared to any other student. However, compared to other countries in the world, the education sector might have several flaws swept under the carpet, but in reality the students in India fair an IQ which is quite superior to kids in other countries.

We follow a very traditional way of learning and studying, which was passed on to us when the British’s came and invaded India and decided to educate the natives. India might be a traditional and backward country in terms of its infrastructure and other facilities but it has grown and has been nurtured into a unique being that it exists today.

There are so many schools, colleges and universities that are both nationally and internationally recognized all around the world. Every single day this sector is growing and taking a whole new dimension to it its existence. Millions and millions of students are passing out of the institutions and taking up diverse fields of employments careers every single day. India is a country with a growing and thriving world economy; every other country is surprised to believe that a country so immensely Populated as this one, with a democratic background and a semi-permeable economy, is showing signs of constant growth and development.
It is also a matter of great surprise to other economies how India as a country hasn’t fallen apart so far and still exists to work and develop at very progressive rates. It is possible because of the empowering educational system that is present in the country. Every person contributes to the making of a nation; similarly, India owes its existence to the many engineers, entrepreneurs, industrialists, politicians, labourers, lawyers and several other professions whose combining efforts have resulted in the country that we live in today.

Therefore, we should continue to strive to excel and gain lots of accomplishments for the honour and glory of our country, because their visions for strengthening the country has definitely borne fruits in our lives through the accomplishments we hold today.

The Indian International MUN Experience

The IIMUN one of the largest youth conferences was held in Hyderabad from 31 May to 2 June at the IIIT campus. 15 students from Oakridge were a part of this conference. Though the delegates for this conference were from different colleges, the students found it to be a very enriching experience for them. Yagna Agarwal of Grade XI who was a part of this conference shares his experience with us……

"With mixed feelings of anxiety and excitement and my hopes high, I was there; at the IIIT campus. The first college MUN I was attending. I was not nervous but I was prepared; to debate as a Delegate of Poland in the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty). It was a 2 day MUN with 4 committee sessions in total. It was fun debating and putting up productive arguments. Also, there was a lot to learn too! Next Morning was the most productive session.

We had come to a resolution and the whole committee was really happy. In NATO for a resolution to pass we need 100% majority, every single country had Veto power. We had successfully managed to pass the resolution with cent-percent majority. Now, came the part which I was most exited for i.e. the ‘Awards’. Although I did not win any Award the Chairperson told me that I had done well and to keep it up! With my bag packed with papers and my mind full of blissful memories I returned home glad for being a part of an enriching experience."

Strengthening Parent Ward Relationship

Gone are those days of 9 to 5 jobs, when fathers would come home and after freshening up would start playing with their little ones. These days dad’s come home with a heavy load of work, tired looking face and a desire to be tucked into their beds until morning. In keeping up with their job requirements, parents often forget that they have young wide-eyed children, who are eagerly waiting their return every evening to show them their recent progress.
Parenting as all of us know is quite a tough job and involves a lot of patience, allegiance, hard work and effort. A good relationship is highly recommendable for parents, with their kids as it allows them to build a strong foundation of love, affection and trust between the two. In order to achieve these goals, one needs to be approachable enough for their kids, to be able to communicate freely to their kids.
This will permit the child to have confidence in themselves to talk before their parents, without any sort of inhibitions. The research survey studies have revealed that children normally develop a great bonding with their mother, as she is known to be a warm, caring and protective person. Fathers are the ones whom kids always like to imitate, especially boys.  These days spending time with children is restricted to providing them with all the cool gadgets, toys and PlayStation’s that parents can provide them with.
Psychologists who counsel young children, for their rude and inappropriate behavior in school have come across after interviewing these children that these children are mostly rich neglected kids. Such kids often demand for attention from everywhere, since they do not receive it at their home, therefore, the only option they find to gain attention from is by getting into verbal and physical fights with other students.
It is often felt that proper action at proper time should be meted out towards these kids to prevent them from becoming brats as they grow up. But without the parents help, support, care and love for the child this task becomes close to impossible to be achieved. Parents should be counseled separately, to make them aware of the importance of having such a beautiful gift in their life, and by being per-occupied with work only they are vehemently rejecting their precious gift. Thus, India is reporting a large number of broken family cases in the past few years, the statistics of which are on rise.
